Tidemand to make guest appearance in the Euro RX season premiere

While waiting for his next rally start, Pontus Tidemand squeezes in some extra time behind the wheel. This upcoming weekend, he participates at the Euro RX season premiere at British Silverstone and he looks forward to getting the adrenaline pumping again.

Pontus Tidemand’s latest competitive race was a guest appearance in the RallyX on Ice in March and the month before, he did Rally Sweden. But he has still kept very busy since then.

“We are working really hard towards our next WRC outing” said Pontus. “There are many details that need to come in place for it to work, but I feel like we are in a good place. But we need to be tactical about it in order to get the best possible position for the 2020 season, which means choosing the right events that suit me and when the time is right. We aim to be back in the championship and do at least a couple of rallies after the summer. Rally is still my priority and my main focus, but I never miss out on a chance to get the adrenaline going so I’m looking forward to battle it out on a rallycross track again.”

It was the legend Per Eklund who picked up the phone and called Pontus to offer a guest appearance in the Euro RX premiere and Pontus immediately accepted the offer. He will be behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Beetle and hopes to be in the fight from start.

“There are many very skilled drivers in rallycross and the level is sky high so all I can do is try to be at it from the first meter. Combined with some luck on my side, this could be a fun weekend and since I don’t feel any pressure, I can just enjoy this. I have been testing for both Skoda and Volkswagen lately so I feel a bit warmed-up and it will be an exciting challenge to get back into rallycoss mode.”

The weekend’s action kicks off on Saturday with the first two qualifying heats while the remaining two run on Sunday, followed by semi-finals and final.
