Pontus won the premiere in Swedish Rally Championship
This weekend the first of six races in this year’s Swedish Rally Championship was run in Uppsala.
Pontus Tidemand was in place and did his first race with the new car for 2012, a Skoda Fabia S2000, owned by Evenrally.
On Friday night the first stage was in central Uppsala and Pontus along with co-driver Jorgen Nordhagen opened to be the fastest of all.
On Saturday, there was six special stages. On the long first stage on Saturday so had Pontus a modest fifth time, 17 seconds behind Mats Jonsson.
– Normally we have two runs through the stages when we write the notes, but this weekend we had only one run. So i did not have 100 percent notes, says Pontus

At lunch so was Pontus in third place overall, 16.5 seconds behind the leader Jonsson, who had only 0.3 seconds on Pelle Sääv.
During the last two stage so began the hunt for the overall win for Pontus.
The last stage was nearly 20 km where Tidemand came up with a really good pace and beated Mats Jonsson with 19 seconds on the stage and Pelle Sääv by 9 seconds, which meant that Pontus won the rallyn with a 1.5-second margin before Pelle Sääv in second place and Mats Jonsson on a third.

– There was really hard driving on the last stages. It felt like a really good proof that the pace is there when Rally Sweden are approaching , says the 21 year old talent Pontus Tidemand
During the Saturday night in the Bilsports 50-year gala, Pontus got the price as the Rally Junior of the Year from the Bilsport autosport magazine. Pontus was also voted as the Motorsport Junior of the Year by the readers of the magazine.
