Pontus Tidemand second after day two of Acropolis Rally
After a slightly unfortunate start in Greece, Pontus Tidemand has worked his way up to a second place and on Saturday he made a clean sweep of stage wins – four out of four possible.
Acropolis Rally started on Friday evening and despite the fact that the opening day only offered two stages, there was a lot of drama on the Greece roads. For Pontus that meant a puncture already on the first stage, but after a better second stage, he was in third place when the first day of the rally came to an end.
Saturday began much better. Pontus got his first stage win of the weekend on the morning’s first stage and managed to make it a trend by setting the fastest time on following three stages as well and catch up more than half a minute on rally leader José Suarez.
“It’s gone very well today and I’m really happy for the stage win points. It’s hard to put pressure on Suarez when he is two minutes ahead of me, but you never know what tomorrow holds. At the moment, the most important thing is to drive wisely and get the car all the way to the finish and we’ll try to keep the second place”, said Pontus after the last stage on Saturday.
Tomorrow Sunday awaits the four last stages of Acropolis Rally. The first stage starts at 10:23 am (CET+1).
