Pontus Tidemand reloaded and ready for Finland’s World RX
The FIA World Rallycross Championship is heading to Finland this weekend for its fourth round. Pontus Tidemand makes his second start as number one driver for EKS and is eager to once again get a chance to challenge his rivals.
World Rallycross of Finland takes place in Kouvola, located about 130 km north-east of the capital Helsinki. The track has been hosting rallycross events since 2010 and consists of 58% asphalt and 42% gravel. A field of 27 cars have entered the Supercar category and it will be a tough fight with many drivers looking to shake up the overall standings.
EKS got into the championship battle in the Norwegian round two weeks ago and the time between the races has been all about preparing and testing to be able to strengthen their position ahead of Finland.
“In Norway we got proven that there’s a lot of potential in the car” says Pontus. “It’s a process to get everything right and it’s going in the right direction, but we have to take one round at a time and have realistic expectations. At the same time, both the team’s and my ambitions are high so I will do my best and I’m ready to face the competition.”
The newly crowned winner of Nürnburgring 24 Hours and former F1 driver Markus Winkelhock takes place in Mattias Ekström’s Audi S1 EKS RX as wildcard driver this weekend as Mattias himself is competing in DTM at Norisring.
